1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Okavango mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you have questions about any change, write to us at support@okavango.app.
2. Description of the App
Okavango is a travel guide and map application designed to assist visitors to the Okavango Delta, Botswana. It provides:
- Offline map access powered by OpenFreeMap / MapLibre
- A curated database of 50 locations including wildlife zones, lodges, restaurants, sights, and activities
- An 8-chapter travel tutorial covering expedition preparation
- The ability to save favourite locations on-device
The App is provided free of charge for personal, non-commercial use.
3. Informational Purpose Only
All content in the Okavango app — including location information, descriptions, maps, and travel guidance — is provided for general informational and travel planning purposes only.
While we strive to ensure the accuracy of all information, the Okavango Delta is a dynamic wilderness environment. Conditions change, camps open and close, access routes flood or dry out, and wildlife behaviour is inherently unpredictable. You should always:
- Verify critical information locally before relying on it
- Contact lodges and camps directly for current availability and access
- Consult professional safari guides and licensed operators for safety-critical decisions
- Obtain up-to-date health advice from a qualified medical professional before travelling
4. Wilderness Safety Disclaimer
The Okavango Delta is a remote wilderness area containing dangerous wild animals including lion, elephant, hippopotamus, leopard, crocodile, and buffalo. Travel in this area carries inherent risks.
The Okavango app is not a safety device and must not be used as a substitute for:
- A qualified, licensed safari guide
- Emergency communication equipment (satellite phone, PLB)
- Professional medical advice or emergency medical services
- Appropriate travel insurance covering medical evacuation
We strongly recommend that all visitors to the Okavango Delta travel with a registered, licensed guide and carry appropriate emergency equipment. In case of any safety concern or emergency, contact your guide, camp management, or emergency services immediately.
For non-emergency questions about navigating the delta safely, you are also welcome to write to us at support@okavango.app and we will do our best to help.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Okavango and its developers shall not be liable for:

- Inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete location or travel information
- Any interruption in map or offline functionality
- Any decisions made on the basis of App content in a wilderness or safety-critical context
The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
